Bo Derek (born Mary Cathleen Collins, November 20, 1956) is an American actress, producer, and model. Derek was born Mary Cathleen Collins in Long Beach, California, to a middle-class family. Her father Paul Collins was a Hobart boat salesman, her mother Norma a makeup artist/hairstylist for Ann-Margret. She has three siblings.
At 16, while attending Narbonne High School in Harbor City, CA, she met John Derek (30 years her senior) on the set of a film in Greece. John, already married, left his wife Linda Evans for Bo. They moved to Germany to avoid statutory charges (Bo was underage), returning when she turned 18. She never finished high school and has no college education.

Bo was married to John Derek (1976–1998, his death). No children together—John had two from previous marriages. Since 2002, she has been in a relationship with actor John Corbett (Northern Exposure). They live on a 200-acre ranch in Santa Ynez Valley with 20+ horses and rescue dogs.
