Victoria Azarenka turned professional in 2003. She rose steadily through the ranks and reached world No. 1 for the first time in January 2012 after winning the Australian Open. She successfully defended that title in 2013, becoming the first Belarusian to claim a major singles crown. In total she spent 51 weeks at No. 1 and finished 2012 as the year-end world No. 1.
She has won 21 WTA singles titles, including multiple WTA 1000 events (Indian Wells, Miami, Cincinnati, Beijing, and others). She reached three US Open finals (2012, 2013, 2020) and has been a consistent presence in the later stages of majors for many years.
