Career
After graduating from McGill, Mathison began modeling and appearing in commercials in Canada, the United States, and Europe. He made his film debut in 54 (1998) and also appeared in the Canadian independent film Washed Up.
His breakthrough came in December 1997 when he was cast as Ryan Lavery on ABC’s All My Children. He played the role from 1998 to 2011 (with a brief break), becoming one of the show’s popular leading men and earning Daytime Emmy nominations and a Soap Opera Digest Award for Outstanding Male Newcomer.
He later appeared in primetime guest roles on shows such as Desperate Housewives, Castle, Hot in Cleveland, and Drop Dead Diva. In the 2010s he became a regular in Hallmark Channel movies, including multiple installments of the Murder, She Baked series opposite Alison Sweeney. He also worked as a correspondent and weekend co-anchor for Entertainment Tonight and co-hosted the Hallmark talk show Home & Family.
In 2021 he joined the cast of General Hospital as Drew Cain, a role he continues to play. He has also appeared as a contestant on Dancing with the Stars.
